CHARLOTTESVILLE RECOVERY ALIVE

Charlottesville Recovery Alive is a Christ-centered, 12-step recovery program for EVERYONE!

Because we all have to deal with life’s circumstances and the emotions that come with it, we often find ourselves struggling with pain, loneliness, rejection, hurt, depression, anxiety, fear, and anger that remain long after the event has passed.

These unresolved, unhealed emotions lead to a variety of addictive behaviors such as substance abuse, alcoholism, sexual or pornography addiction, co-dependency, gambling addiction, physical-sexual-emotional abuse, love and relationship addiction, food addiction, and eating disorders.

Charlottesville Recovery Alive is a safe place to discover community, freedom, and healing from the issues that are controlling your life.

Come join us every Friday night starting at 6:00 and we look forward to seeing you.

6:00 PM - Dinner

Come and enjoy a meal with us before our Large Group meeting begins. Dinner is $7.00 and children under 6 are no charge.

7:00 PM - Power Group (Large Group Meeting)

We meet for a 12-step Teaching Session in the Worship Center at 7:00pm. The Power Group is designed as a time to set aside the stresses and distractions of the outside world by entering into a time of prayer, praise and worship, and teaching as a way of getting in touch with the one and only Higher Power, Jesus Christ.

Immediately After Power Group - People Groups (Small Group Meetings)

People Groups meet immediately after the Large Group meeting. We break into smaller, gender-specific groups that provide a safe place to connect with other Recovery Alive participants.

Child Care Provided For People Groups

Child care is available for People Groups participants immediately after the Power Group.

THE 12 STEPS AND BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS OF RECOVERY ALIVE

“Even so has God restored us all to our right minds. To this man, the revelation was sudden. Some of us grow into it more slowly. But He has come to all who have honestly sought Him” — Bill Wilson

  1. We admitted we were powerless and that our lives had become unmanageable.

I want to do what is right, but I can’t. (Romans 7:18)

  2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

For I can do everything though Christ, who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)

  3. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God.

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:13)

  4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord. (Lamentations 3:40)

  5. We admitted to God, ourselves, and to another human the harm we have done to others, and the harm that was done to us.

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. (James 5:16)

  6. We humbly asked God to remove our defects of character.

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)

  7. We asked God for the grace to forgive those who have hurt us.

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. (Philippians 2:13)

  8. We made amends to all the persons we had harmed unless to do so would injure them or others.

Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. (Romans 12:18)

  9. We extended forgiveness to those who had harmed us, except when to do so would injure them or others.

And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. (2 Corinthians 5:18)

  10. We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.

Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. (1 Timothy 1:19)

  11. We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us, and power to carry that out.

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

  12. Having had a spiritual experience as a result of these steps, we try to carry this message to others and practice these principles in all our affairs.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

YOU CAN’T KEEP IT UNLESS YOU GIVE IT AWAY!
